PG2 Paragliding Licence
9 Day Block Course – Cost: $2,600 (Pre-requisite: PG1)
PG2 is where everything starts coming together. Building on the foundations of PG1, this course is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and judgement needed to become a safe, confident and independent paraglider pilot.
Over a minimum of 32 additional training flights you’ll gain experience flying from a range of sites across Canterbury, including ParaPro’s exclusive Oxford training sites. Flying in different locations and conditions helps you become a more adaptable and capable pilot.
Throughout the course you’ll learn ridge soaring, thermalling, advanced descent techniques, weather interpretation, airspace, flight planning, and, most importantly, how to make good decisions. Our focus isn’t just on teaching you how to fly. It’s about building the habits and mindset that lead to a lifetime of safe and enjoyable flying.
Training is delivered in small practical groups with personalised radio coaching, allowing every student to progress at a pace that suits them while receiving individual feedback throughout the course.
Most students complete PG2 over two to five weeks, depending on weather and availability. Many choose to attend an intensive block before returning for evening or weekend sessions to complete their remaining flights.
Successful completion of PG2 prepares you to sit the NZHPA pilot licence examination. Licences are issued on the recommendation of your instructor once you’ve demonstrated the required knowledge, skills and judgement expected of a safe pilot.
